Essential Oils Yoga for Stress and Anxiety

What is Aromatherapy? Aromatherapy is a holistic healing method that uses natural plant extracts for their therapeutic properties to help improve one’s health and well-being. You can use aromatherapy to improve sleep, manage depression and anxiety, meditation, and enhance your yoga practice. I have incorporated essential oils into my live-stream yoga classes to promote mindfulness and awaken the senses.

5-Step Guide Using Essential Oil Blends For Chakra Yoga

Step 1: Set Intention.

Before you begin, you need to decide on your intention. Are you wanting to relax? Or would you like to energize or enhance a detox?

Step 2: Choose your Essential Oil.

Carefully choose the right essential oil for your intention. If you need to deeply relax and heal, you can use Lavender oil, Sandalwood, Frankincense, or other woody oils. Learn more about essential oils with this link.

Step 3: Choose the right Yoga.

If you are tired and don’t want to move much, then choose easy yoga poses like cat/cows, child pose, and supported forward bends. If you would like to energize and strengthen choose, warrior poses, yoga flows, and backbends. Kevala Health offers live online yoga classes you can do at home and learn about essential oils you can use in Jodie’s classes.

Step 4: Prepare your essential oil blend.

Never put pure essential oils directly on your skin, near your eyes, or mouth. Mix your essential oils with pure carrier oil, such as; coconut oil, jojoba, almond, and hemp. You can place a few drops of your blend at the back of your neck, chest, belly, or wrists. Get your room ready and comfortable. You can put some oils in a room essential oil diffuser.

Step 5: Begin your Practice.

Start your meditation or yoga practice by focusing on grounding, centering, and breathing. Move mindfully, and use blankets or pillows for extra support and comfort.

One of the best and most versatile essential oils is lavender. You can purchase pure lavender from your supermarket or other essential oils in our shop. Some popular essential oils are;

Orange: This essential oil is perfect for depression and anxiety, uplifts your mood, and is energizing. Other citrus oils like Lemon and Lime are also great. Use these oils to enhance a detox.

Lavender: This essential oil can help to relieve stress, and anxiety, reduce headaches, and promote inner peace and calmness.

Peppermint: This oil enhances mental focus, improves concentration and energy, and stimulates digestion organs.

Sandalwood: Or other woody pure essential oils help enhance a deep sense of grounding, stability, and peace. They can strengthen the immune system and improve circulation. Perfect for meditation.

The best Carrier Oils to use are coconut, jojoba, almond, or pure vegetable-based oils. Just use a couple of drops of 100% pure essential oil to 20ml of carrier oil. Choose high-quality 100% pure essential oils.
