Menopause can be a sensitive subject for some women and it’s not really talked about much in the general public. So I’m here to shed some light on menopause and hopefully help some women manage symptoms and start enjoying this new phase of life.

Every female experiences Peri-menopause at different ages and sometimes, like myself, didn’t even know when I started.

When I look back at the beginning of peri-menopause around my mid-40 I began to get more emotional than normal, tired easily, and have mood swings! Then the irregular or shortening of my menstrual cycle began. I was too busy with work and family to pay much attention to all these symptoms.

So my partner suggested visiting my Doctor who did the usual blood tests and confirmed some changes were happening. I didn’t really accept this back then and thought it was other life stresses. So I continued to multi-task, overwork, and not nourish my body as much as I could have. I continued pushing my body more and my symptoms became stronger and started affecting my life, work and relationship!

Then it was time to make more changes to my lifestyle, like slowing down, practicing more restorative and gentle yoga. I started to eat more greens, less sugar, less high carb foods, reduced coffee and started to feel fewer symptoms of menopause. The biggest change was when I finally accepted the changes in my body, I started feeling more positive towards this new phase of life.

If this sounds like you then maybe, it’s time to make some changes like me. My advice is always to check with your Doctor and start making healthy changes to your lifestyle earlier to cope with symptoms later on, especially as we get older.

Once I started to adjust my lifestyle, Yoga practice, and thinking, I started to cope a little more with Menopause symptoms. I’m now more accepting of getting older and my body changes. I’m even loving my silver highlights!

How to Manage Menopause Symptoms:

  1. Eat healthily - Eat more Green Vegetables and less sugar.

  2. Walk regularly - Aim for a minimum of 30 minutes a day.

  3. Practice Yoga - More gentle restorative Yoga.

  4. Reduce Stress in your life

  5. More Selfcare - Have a massage or bath with candles.

  6. Reduce Alcohol and caffeine

  7. Get support and professional advice
