5 Yoga Poses for the Heart Chakra

In today’s stressful times and Covid-19 world issues, our minds and bodies have struggled on every level. Unfortunately, during our lifetime we will also experience the loss of a loved one or pet, rejection, or trauma and all this causes issues with our health and blocks our Heart Chakra. The Heart Chakra is our main energy center for love, inner peace, compassion, contentment, forgiveness, joy, and a healthy immune system.

Spring is the perfect time to balance the Heart Chakra. You can also enhance your gentle yoga home practice and open the Heart Chakra more with essential oils. Use 100% pure essential oils to stimulate the heart center and immune system.

The best essential oils to complement yoga poses for Heart Chakra are; Lavender, Jasmine, Rose, Ylang Ylang, Mandarin, and the Kevala Blossom perfume blend. If you are making your own essential oil blend, use a natural carrier oil with pure essential oil. Never rub pure essential oils directly on the skin, near the eyes, or mouth. If you are using the Kevala Blossom oil blend, you can roll on behind your neck, chest, or wrists. More information on our Australian essential oil perfumes is here.

I have researched the best yoga poses for the Heart Chakra and have made it simple by listing the five Heart Chakra yoga poses for beginners or anyone wanting a gentle, but stimulating yoga sequence. If you have tight hips or lower back, then sit on some blankets in the beginning. You can repeat this sequence twice and any time of the day. It is the perfect yoga practice for depression.

I will demonstrate a gentle breathing warm-up at the beginning with some optional “HU” sounds on the exhale, and sternum tapping, to activate the Thymus gland to strengthen your immune system. Followed by the 5 Chakra Yoga poses to open the heart. All these Chakra yoga poses are on the ground.

Meditation only for Heart Chakra

You can just sit on a chair or cross-legged on the floor and just do a simple breathing meditation and mantras. Just place your left hand over the lower belly and your right hand over the heart space. Close your eyes and breathe slowly into the lower belly first then flow slowly upwards and into the heart's hand. Do this for two to five minutes. You can also repeat the heart Chakra mantra “YAM”, to yourself on the exhale slowly with the breath. Do this Meditation for your heart any time of the day.

You can also do the sternum (Thymus gland) tapping by itself to activate the heart chakra and strengthen the immune system any time of the day.

Affirmations for the Heart Chakra

You can combine mantras and affirmations with your Heart Chakra sequence or just by themselves. My favorite mantras are, “I am worthy of Love”, and “My heart is open and ready to give and receive love”. Repeat these either silently or aloud on the exhale. Repeating affirmations in front of a mirror daily is also very powerful.

Balanced Heart Chakra

A balanced Heart Chakra's characteristics are the ability to give and receive love, inner peace, compassion, forgiveness, joy, empathy, balance, and a healthy immune system.

Blocked Heart Chakra

Some characteristics of a blocked Heart Chakra may result in being critical of self and others, issues with lungs and heart, being prone to more depression, being anti-social, lack of empathy, and being more judgemental.

Free your heart space and connect with more self-love, acceptance, and peace.
