My Happy Place | Gardening for Body and Mind
Over the last few years, my edible garden has become so much more than a place to grow vegetables and herbs. It’s become my happy place.
There’s something incredibly satisfying about planting a tiny seed and watching it slowly grow into something beautiful or something you can enjoy eating. It reminds me that growth takes time, patience and care.
One of my favourite jobs in the garden is actually weeding. While some people see it as a chore, I see it differently. To me, weeding is like cleansing. By removing the weeds, I’m creating space for my flowers, herbs and vegetables to flourish. It’s a lovely reminder that sometimes we also need to let go of things in our own lives that no longer serve us, making room for new growth and new opportunities.
My favorite flowers are zinnias. I love their bright, cheerful colors, and they flower for such a long time. Every time I see them blooming, they bring a smile to my face.
For me, gardening is about so much more than growing plants. It’s a place where I can slow down, explore, learn, heal and reconnect with nature. It’s where I feel grounded, peaceful and grateful.
Sometimes the greatest therapy isn’t found indoors—it’s found with your hands in the soil, surrounded by fresh air, sunshine and the simple joy of watching life grow.
