Managing Stress During Menopause: Gentle Ways to Feel Calmer Every Day
Menopause is a significant stage of life, bringing physical, emotional and hormonal changes that can sometimes feel overwhelming. Many women notice that stress feels harder to manage, sleep becomes more difficult, and everyday challenges can seem more intense than they once did.
I understand these feelings because I’ve experienced them myself.
During my own menopause journey, I discovered that small, consistent wellness habits made a real difference to how I felt each day. While everyone’s experience is unique, these practices helped me navigate this stage of life with greater calm, strength and self-compassion.
My Personal Experience
For me, yoga became much more than physical exercise. It gave my mind a chance to slow down and switch off from the constant thoughts and worries that can build throughout the day. As I developed a regular yoga practice, I found that my sleep gradually improved, and I woke feeling more refreshed and better able to cope with daily life.
Breathing exercises also became one of my most valuable tools. Whenever I felt overwhelmed or anxious, taking a few slow, mindful breaths helped me let go of stress and gently bring myself back to the present moment. Instead of becoming caught up in worry, I learned to pause, breathe and reconnect with myself.
Keeping active was equally important. Walking, Pilates and cardio sessions helped me maintain my fitness, supported my overall wellbeing and made it easier to manage the weight changes that many women experience during menopause. I wasn’t striving for perfection—I simply wanted to feel strong, healthy and energised.
Perhaps one of the greatest gifts yoga gave me was acceptance. Menopause brings change, and while that can sometimes feel challenging, yoga taught me to be kinder to myself. It reminded me that every stage of life has its own beauty and that caring for ourselves with patience, compassion and understanding is just as important as caring for our physical health.
Today, these practices continue to support my wellbeing, and they are a big part of why I love helping other women discover gentle, sustainable ways to move, breathe and feel their best through every stage of healthy ageing.
If you’re going through menopause, know that you’re not alone. With the right support and simple daily habits, it’s possible to feel calmer, stronger and more confident as you embrace this new chapter.
