What Healthy Ageing Means to Me

Hello, I’m Jodie. Let’s learn and grow together

When I first started Kevala Health, my dream wasn’t simply to teach yoga or Pilates.

I wanted to inspire other women—especially those who had spent years looking after everyone else—to start looking after themselves again.

As mothers, partners and carers, we often put our own health last. I wanted to create a place where women could rediscover their confidence, set new goals and realize that it’s never too late to become stronger, healthier and happier.

To me, healthy ageing isn’t about trying to stay young.

It’s about living your best life with strength, confidence and a positive mindset. It’s about reducing the risk of age-related illness through movement, nourishing your body, and continuing to enjoy the things you love for as long as possible.

Life has taught me that challenges are inevitable.

One of my biggest personal challenges has been menopause.

It changed my emotions, my priorities and the way I look at my health. Instead of fighting those changes, I’ve learned to accept them and adapt. That doesn’t mean giving up—it means discovering new ways to care for yourself.

These days, I value things that help me feel well, both physically and mentally. I love growing my own edible garden because eating healthy foods has become an important part of my wellbeing. I’ve also learned that slowing down, moving regularly and appreciating the simple things in life can make a huge difference.

Yoga and Pilates have given me so much more than flexibility and strength.

They’ve helped me build a strong core and back, allowing me to carry shopping bags without discomfort, stay active and avoid the joint aches and pains that many people think are simply part of getting older.

They’ve also taught me balance—not just in my body, but in my life.

When people leave one of my classes, I hope they feel stronger, more confident and happier than when they arrived.

One of the biggest misconceptions about ageing is that our lives become more limited.

I don’t believe that.

I believe we can continue learning, growing and enjoying life at every age. We simply need to adapt to our changing bodies and keep moving in ways that support them.

If you’re nervous about starting, please remember that every single person was once a beginner.

We’re all still learning about our bodies, discovering our strengths and respecting our limits. My classes aren’t about perfection—they’re about progress, enjoyment and feeling supported.

Just like a tree, we continue to grow throughout our lives.

Some of the biggest changes I’ve made to support my own health have been surprisingly simple: reducing alcohol, cutting back on sugar, moving my body regularly and making time for activities that bring me joy.

My hope is that as we get older, we can still walk with confidence, carry our shopping, enjoy holidays, walk our dogs, play with our grandchildren and continue doing the everyday things that make life meaningful.

If there’s one message I’d love everyone to remember, it’s this:

Enjoy life, keep learning, and never stop investing in your health.

Healthy ageing isn’t about adding years to your life.

It’s about adding life to your years.

I hope Kevala Health can help you do exactly that.

Like a tree, we never stop growing. Every season brings change, and every season offers an opportunity to become stronger, wiser and healthier.
